Press release

Berlin, 8 October 2024 – The renowned boutique law firm SL Avocat – which focuses on Sanctions, International Investigations and Business Crime – is celebrating its first anniversary.

Salomé Lemasson has taken the step to set up SL Avocat in a very competitive market directly after returning from her maternity leave in October 2023, after a decade working for internationally recognised law firms such as Gibson Dunn, Hogan Lovells or AL & Associés.

Right from the start, her international clientele pushed her to cover three major European jurisdictions: France, Germany and the UK. SL Avocat is specialised in advising demanding international clients, both leading industrial groups, companies and high net worth individuals, confronted with complex cross-border criminal issues.

Salomé is a versatile and astute attorney who regularly advises designated persons targeted by sanctions regimes (EU, UN) in challenging their designation. She also assists companies in navigating the intricacies of complex sanctions regimes against Russia or Myanmar. Her expertise further includes the niche practice of defending clients against international investigations led by multilateral development banks (such as the World Bank) into allegations of fraudulent, corrupt or collusive practices. She has led settlement discussions with several major banks and helped her clients mitigate the impact of a debarment. With respect to business

crime matters, Salomé handles complex judicial investigations into international fraud and money laundering allegations.

Through SL Avocat, Salomé regularly cooperates with distinguished attorneys. She prides herself on fostering a friendly and respectful working culture with her peers, in which everyone can contribute with his/her best expertise to the benefit of her clients. During this first year of existence, she has had the opportunity to work with renowned colleagues in France (including David Apelbaum, ABPA Avocats, ranked Next Generation Partners by Legal 500 in 2022, and Noémie Coutrot-Cieslinski, CC&C Avocats, distinguished by Le Point as Best Law Firms in 2024), in Germany (including Sören Schomburg, Knauer & Partners, Anna Oehmichen, Oehmichen International, and Wolfgang Spoerr, Hengeler Mueller), in the UK (Alex Haines, Outer Temple Chambers, ranked Band 1 for sanctions by Chambers & Partners, and Quinton

Newcomb, Fieldfisher), and in Spain (Jaime Campaner, Campaner Law, recognized as one of the best white collar lawyers in Spain by Legal 500 in 2024).

Salomé was recently appointed as an advisory board member of the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA), further emphasising her international reputation and network.

Salomé comments: ‘It's been a year now and I can say that it was the best business decision of my life. I am thrilled to handle incredibly diverse and complex legal topics. These are not only intellectually challenging, but also offer an exciting variety.

Salomé has been a member of the Paris Bar Association since January 2014 and a member of the Berlin Bar Association since March 2020. She regularly publishes articles on current legal topics in the areas of white-collar criminal law, sanctions and MDB investigations and is also regularly interviewed on these topics by leading newspapers like Le Monde or Les Echos.
